For Candidates

Traditional headhunters are incentivized to put their needs as a firm ahead of candidates’ best interests. Contrary to what their websites may claim, their most pressing concern is maximizing placement rates and the associated fees that they collect.

As a result, headhunters may do the following:

  • - Pressure a candidate to take a certain role with a given firm if it minimizes the time taken to secure that candidate’s placement.
  • - Refrain from displaying a candidate’s profile to additional potential employers to maintain high acceptance rates with client firms.
  • - Categorize candidates to employers in a way that reduces the time spent placing them, shutting down options that candidates may wish to explore.
    • - For example, because you worked in a given industry the headhunter will show your profile only to firms/groups operating within that specific industry.

At TSP, we view things differently. We believe that candidates should determine their career trajectory, not headhunters. With TSP, selected candidates can showcase their professional profile to a broad array of buy-side firms, who will be in contact should they wish to interview them. Choosing TSP means taking control of your career and avoiding a process that too often doesn’t work for candidates.
